A landing like no other

In the history of manned space flight has there been no greater landing. Unfortunately, this one will take place very early this morning, when the majority of the country will be asleep.
It was two years ago that Columbia disintegrated in our atmosphere, and the country nearly missed the occurrence. Initially, as I watched the live feed on air, I felt confident that the shuttle would miraculously find its way safely to the tarmac. Naively, I would be wrong. Physics would prove my hope wrong.
But, it may happen again tonight. In just two hours, Discovery is scheduled to land in Florida again, as it has done several times before. Although the future of the Shuttle program is now truncated, the hope of the American people is not. We will be uplifted when this Shuttle lands. We will be inspired to reach new goals. What program follows the Shuttle will truly be a marvel of technology and hope. America will stand right behind it.
Even if our own personal goals may not be to grasp a virgin Mars rock, we can empathize with the scientist who’s that is. Although we may not care to travel to other galaxies, we certainly understand the desire.
God Speed to Steve, Jim, Andy, Wendy, Charlie, Eileen, and Soichi.
